PUPO

OPERA THEATRE · 2028

An opera-theatre work for two singers, two dancers, piano and viola.

About the work

PUPO follows two parents who create a puppet show to protect their child from the violence of war. As the outside world closes in, their performance gradually changes from an act of reassurance into an attempt to preserve a fading memory. The child never appears on stage.

Drawing on fragments of testimony from the Warsaw Ghetto archives, the work explores the private experience of war through music, movement and puppetry without locating its story in one specific conflict.
