Music and sound design for a dance work by John-William Watson

About the work

They Look Like People is a surreal dance-theatre production created by John-William Watson in collaboration with Sadler's Wells Company of Elders.

Set in a doctor's waiting room, the work follows a group of strangers whose comfortable anonymity is disrupted by the arrival of someone who seems strangely different. Through humour, movement and storytelling, the production explores identity, memory and the seemingly ordinary moments that shape our lives.

Developed collaboratively with the performers, all aged over 60, the work draws on their personal histories and experiences. The original composition and sound design weave together instrumental music, recorded voices and narration, accompanying a theatrical exploration of individuality, ageing and human connection.
