About the work
Created for the Dutch National Ballet's Junior Company, You Do Not Have to Be Good is a contemporary ballet by choreographer Joshua Junker, combining classical technique with influences from hip-hop and contemporary movement. The original score, comprising the compositions Sich and Soir Embrumé, moves between rhythmic intensity and quieter, more introspective passages, providing a contrasting musical landscape for the choreography.
The work premiered in January 2026 at International Theater Amsterdam as part of the Junior Company's Ballet Beats programme, before touring the Netherlands.
